When two of the best teams in the state face off, the play on the field gets elevated and makes it seem like a postseason game that’s going to decide a state championship.

That was the feeling Wednesday, Sept. 12, when Lake Forest visited Northfield to take on New Trier in the teams’ first matchup of the season.

“That was exciting for you, but my heart was skipping a beat,” New Trier coach Stephanie Nykaza said.
