Claude Monet was 5 when he knew he wanted to be an artist. Pablo Picasso started figure drawing and oil painting lessons when he was 7. By 9 years old, he’d finished his first painting and entered Barcelona’s School of Fine Arts at 13. Michelangelo’s first known painting, The Torment of Saint Antony, was done when he was 12, and was featured five centuries later at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
