Before Lauren Reesman was born, doctors told her parents she would not live a normal life.

They said her severe case of spina bifida, a rare spinal condition, would prevent her from being able to talk, walk or engage in the same daily activities as her two older sisters.

Yet on Saturday, Sept. 8, the 20-year-old Wisconsin native completed her first Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association’s Twilight 5K in Lake Forest.
