Lake Forest College brought its hockey program back to its roots when it hosted an outdoor game for its women’s team recently. In 2008, the National Hockey League televised the first outdoor hockey game on United States soil. The game, which was attended by 71,217 people at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, is now known as the Bridgestone Winter Classic and has become a the New Year’s Day tradition for the NHL.
