Shawheen Sariri, 23, of Lake Villa, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse on March 20, in Lake Forest, according to a police report from the Lake Forest Police Department. 

According to the report, Lake Forest Police detectives began an investigation after being contacted by DCFS regarding a reported sexual assault that took place in Lake Forest involving a female minor. Lake Forest Police detectives, DCFS, Lake County Child Advocacy Center and the Lake County State’s Attorney conducted the investigation and identified Sariri as the suspect. 

Rob Copeland, Lake Forest deputy chief, said there is only one suspect and one victim. 

An arrest warrant was issued following numerous interviews and a case review by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. 

Per the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, Sariri is facing six counts of charges:

• Predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13

• Predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13

• Criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 18

• Aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 18

• Aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 18

• Aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 18
